Tenants and guests gathered along Broadway as The Woolworth witnessed another chapter in New York’s ticker-tape tradition.
The Story
On June 18, New York turned orange and blue as the Knicks’ championship celebration traveled through Lower Manhattan’s Canyon of Heroes. Standing directly along Broadway, The Woolworth offered tenants and guests a front-row view of one of the city’s most beloved civic rituals.
The morning gathering brought people together over coffee and bagels in the building’s Broadway-facing rooms and at its entrance. As confetti filled the air and fans lined the streets below, The Woolworth once again became part of the city’s living theater.
By the building’s historical count, this was the 203rd ticker-tape parade the Woolworth has witnessed since opening in 1913 — a vivid link between the landmark’s history and the everyday life of the people who work here now.
