Happy Medium Brings Art and Community to The Woolworth
A hands-on creative gathering invited guests to slow down, look closely, and find new inspiration in a familiar landmark.
The Story
Happy Medium returned to The Woolworth for an evening of hands-on artmaking inspired by the landmarked lobby. Participants of all skill levels used charcoal, soft pastels, colored pencils, and other dry materials to interpret the lobby’s mosaics, ornament, and historic character.
The self-guided format encouraged guests to spend time looking carefully at the craftsmanship that has defined the building for more than a century. Rather than treating The Woolworth only as an architectural icon, the gathering made the building itself an active source of creative material.
The spring event followed an earlier Happy Medium gathering on the 26th floor in July 2025, extending an ongoing partnership that welcomes new audiences and offers new ways to experience the landmark.
“Happy Medium’s events encouraged guests to slow down, look closely, and find inspiration in the building itself. It’s the kind of programming that makes a historic space feel active, welcoming, and relevant.”— Aisling Gregory, Strategic Marketing Advisor, the Woolworth
