From Cathedral of Commerce to Catalyst of Culture

LM Live and Untapped New York convened leading voices in architecture, preservation, and design to consider the next chapter of an icon.

The Story

LM Live and Untapped New York gathered inside The Woolworth for an evening exploring the past, present, and future of one of New York’s most significant architectural landmarks.

Moderated by Justin Rivers of Untapped New York, the panel featured Carol Willis of the Skyscraper Museum; Gregg Pasquarelli of SHoP Architects; Ron Castellano of Studio Castellano; and Nate Rogers of Beyer Blinder Belle. A reception and site-specific installation by artist-in-residence Aaron Asis expanded the conversation beyond the stage.

The evening looked beyond the building’s history as the “Cathedral of Commerce” to consider how preservation, adaptive reuse, hospitality, and cultural programming can keep a landmark relevant — honoring its architecture while making space for new ideas and new audiences.

“Today, we’re exploring how a historic building can also become a platform for culture—a place where ideas are exchanged, creativity is visible, and business feels human again.”
